The World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2022 (WAIC2022) grandly opened. More than 500 guests attended the event, including leading scholars at home and abroad, renowned entrepreneurs, representatives of international organizations, etc. Among them were 4 Turing Award laureates, 1 Nobel Prize laureate, 1 Fields Medal laureate, over 80 academicians at home and abroad, more than 20 presidents of top universities at home and abroad, as well as more than 400 representatives of industry organizations and entrepreneurs.  

On September 1st, the 2022 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, jointly hosted by national ministries and commissions such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People's Government of Shanghai Municipality, was held. Meanwhile, taking the creation of a metaverse super application scenario as the theme, Zhangjiang Science Hall set up the Pudong sub-venue of this conference, namely the 2022 Metaverse Expo. This exhibition of metaverse super application scenarios aims to explore breakthroughs in cutting-edge metaverse technologies based on the scientific and technological industrial foundation of the Yangtze River Delta region in Shanghai, seize the opportunities of digital transformation, focus on the deep integration of the "metaverse +" with multiple industries, showcase new technologies, new products, and new developments related to the metaverse, empower the new ecosystem of the development of metaverse-related industries, and build a service platform for the metaverse industry to display, communicate, match resources, and incubate projects.  

In Shanghai, the metaverse has been explicitly identified as one of the four major "new tracks". Starting from making plans last year, to launching characteristic industrial parks in June this year, and then releasing the action plan in July, Shanghai has become the first city in China to take the lead in the metaverse field at the implementation level. It is expected that by 2025, the scale of metaverse-related industries in Shanghai will reach 350 billion yuan, driving the scale of the city's software and information service industry to exceed 1.5 trillion yuan and the scale of the electronic information manufacturing industry to break through 550 billion yuan.
